On 18 May 2026, the demo event for Demo #1 at the Wały Śląskie Hydropower Plant in Poland took place, organised by the Polish partners of the D-HYDROFLEX project. The event gave stakeholders the opportunity to learn more about the project, its innovative toolkit, and to observe in practice how the digital twin of the Wały Śląskie hydropower plant is being developed.
During the event, the hydro system digital twin of the Wały Śląskie power plant was presented to various stakeholders. The digital twin is a virtual, fully functional replica of the actual turbine-generator system, operating on real-time data collected directly from the power plant. Participants were shown how this digital model can be used to optimise operations, predict failures, test different operational scenarios, and improve the flexibility of the entire power plant without posing any risk to the physical infrastructure.
The event also provided an excellent platform for discussion on the benefits of digital twin technology for end users. These benefits include real-time monitoring of equipment performance, predictive maintenance, improved operational safety and efficiency, as well as reduced maintenance costs.
Stakeholders also discussed the potential for scaling D-HYDROFLEX solutions across other hydropower plants in Poland. Since the primary beneficiaries of the project are power plant operators, an important part of the event was the presentation of the practical implementation of the digital twin at the Wały Śląskie power plant to senior management and top directors of TAURON Ekoenergia. This demonstration highlighted the real-world applicability and strategic value of D-HYDROFLEX solutions for the hydropower sector, as well as the direct benefits that digitalisation can bring to the company.
